Circular walk across fields to Purton where we will visit the 'Purton Ship Graveyard also known as Purton hulks . We will follow the towpath , bordered on one side by the Gloucester and Sharpness canal and River Severn on the other . Returning via Sharpness Docks and fields and farm
This 10 mile walk circuits through Rodmarton, Cherington and Culkerton. Option of coffee and cake afterwards towards Frampton Mansell ( a short drive away).
New Year means a new chance of winning the pub quiz!! Hopefully, we can maintain our presence in the Brown Jug pub, as the group to watch.. Come and help make up some teams and have a fun evening.
To celebrate Burns night, the group is organising a cottage for a week / long weekend of walking to celebrate the Scottish poet who loved the land
Today's route covers the southern lumps & bumps (technical term!) of the Malvern Hills. Expect hills and possibly a bit of mud (it is January), so a pole recommended. The ascent will be > 2,000ft.your rewards will include Herefordshire Beacon, Hangman's Hill, Swinford Hill, Chase End Hill, Ragged Stone Hill and finally... Midsummer Hill.
Walk to Owlpen (with its secluded manor house & church), up onto Uley Bury Hillfort (for great views) then return along Cotswold Way.
A delightful 8 miles. heading first to to Abenhall we move on to Flaxley, Pope's Hill, and return via Flaxley Woods
It's the planning meeting tonight and we are hoping to hold it with a sausage and chip supper . (There will be time too, for a social game of Skittles.
Walking through Sherborne estate along the valley to include villages of Great Barrington, Little Barrington and Sherborne .Beautiful valley with plenty of streams, water meadows and undulating hills .
No need for a passport for this adventure which starts today - this 136 mile epic walk which follows the Wye and meanders between England and Wales. Later sections may require accommodation but make sure you are there for the get-go. Today is Chepstow Castle to Whitestone Car Park.
