The Forest of Dean is always popular with Gloucestershire Outdoor Walking Group, regardless of the season, always plenty of variety, and a good climb or two to boot.
A 9 mile Forest adventure today hoping to glimpse beavers and boar!Fuelled by breakfast at the Postage Stamp cafe at Parkend, we skirted ponds and enjoyed dry tracks until lunch at Mallards Pike.Our return entailed some of the brown stuff underfoot but the sun shone all day, despite a definitely ‘iffy’ weather forecast.A final beverage of tea, coffee or beer, after admiring the heritage station, provided a chance to reflect on what a great day it had been.
Naturally, the beer is optional, but the company compulsory with good cheer during the walk.
